Our Services

New Beginnings-Next Step sponsors peer-support groups for incarcerated and returning citizens.

In-prison groups are run by staff and a vital and growing group of compassionate volunteer-facilitators, some of whom are ex-offenders, in order to build a community of hope and a culture of accountability and possibility. By building relationships with persons while they are incarcerated and focusing on a holistic and caring approach that includes a spiritual dimension, New Beginnings–Next Step establishes long standing supports for participants that help them prepare for and successfully navigate returning to the community.

Weekly community-based groups for returning citizens are also run by staff and volunteers. This is how one participant described the groups: “The weekly meetings helped me to stay focused on my goals of re-entering society with the purpose of never going back to prison. The talks are deep and meaningful as well as needful. The weekly bus and food vouchers helped me to not do something stupid in order to eat, or have an excuse not to job search. I'm so glad this organization is the real deal and they have helped me feel like a citizen again."

We offer returning citizens a caring community that offers practical, peer-based support and assistance, including:

  • Weekly Grocery cards

  • Transitional or Emergency Support

  • Weekly Bus passes

  • Building Relationship and Life Skills

  • Helping Members Stay on Track
